Show off your (old) gear, win shiny new (ROCCAT) gear!

As you know, the catalog spans many titles dating back as far as 1980 (Akalabeth, we’re looking at you!), in times when computers kind of looked like modern-day microwaves sat on top of a console, and the first portable computer, the Osborne I, was put on the market in all the glory of its 24 pounds of weight and a steep $1,795 price tag.

We don’t expect you to have gear that’s quite as old, but we are curious as to what treasures you might be keeping in a box stored away in the basement or deep in an attic drawer. So show us your oldest gear and be greatly rewarded with the some of the newest on the market, courtesy of gaming gear creator and producer ROCCAT!

– Your entry should consist of 1 or 2 pictures of your old gear and a description of up to 100 words telling us what it is, where you got it, what you used it for or any other fond memories you have with it. Maybe it was your first joystick? Maybe an old Atari controller you kept as a memento? We want to hear about it!
– You can only post one entry per person. If you post more, only the first one will be counted.
– You may not edit your post.
– Use your own photos of your own gear – we do know how to do a reverse image search!

Post your entry in the comments below before the deadline – you have a week, until March 6th, at 1:59 PM GMT. We aim to judge your entries and pick winners by Thursday, March 12th – we’ll announce them in the contest forum thread and via PM to the winners …read more

Eternal glory! That’s what awaits the players who win the Tri-Master Tournament, but to do this, that team must survive three tasks. Three extremely dangerous tasks.

For the first time in QuakeCon history, Quake Live players from around the globe will be tested in one single tournament comprised of all three modes that have come to define competitive Quake.

The Quake Live Tri-Master Tournament will feature competitions for up to 16 four-player teams, where each team will be put to the test in a triathlon comprised of Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, and Duel – with only one team standing at the end as the true Tri-Master Champion. Teams who come out on top will share prizes of $32,000. At the conclusion of the Tri-Master Tournament, the top two individual duelers selected by their team will then face off to claim an additional $8,000 and the title of Grand Master Champion.

As part of QuakeCon’s 20th year, The Quake Live Tri-Master Tournament will be held July 23-26, 2015 in Dallas, TX, USA in the Wedgwood Ballroom at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. Teams with professional or extensive Quake Live experience are encouraged to rally around a strong dueler and sharpen their CTF and TDM skills.

Sign-ups are now open by emailing! Please see the official tournament rules for more details.

Abe’s Oddysee reconstructed.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, a critically acclaimed restoration of Abe’s Oddysee, is available now on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux with a 10% launch discount!

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty earns the right to call itself a true remake. It’s so much more than just a graphical upgrade, it’s a modern retelling of the unforgettable experience that Abe’s Oddysee was all these years ago. The unsettlingly beautiful visuals, the disturbingly odd universe, and the unforgivingly difficult gameplay were enough to leave a lasting impression on anyone who encountered Abe’s Oddysee. Seventeen years later, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty retains the setting, the sounds, and the flavor; all brought up to modern platforming par, and beyond, with updated controls, refined mechanics and a reconstructed experience.

Also available for purchase are two pieces of DLC:
Bonus level: Alf’s Escape, a brand-new extensive level with completely fresh New ‘n’ Tasty mechanics.
Alternative costume: Scrub Abe

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty makes a tremendous impression, rose-tinted glasses not required. It’s available now, DRM-free on The 10% launch discount will last for one week, until Wednesday, March 4, at 4:49 PM GMT.

A haze of neon carnage.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, a conclusion to the psychotic saga, is now available to pre-order for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, DRM-free on with a 10% discount.

Limbs strewn everywhere, pulsating to the rhythmic thumping of a haunting (hauntingly good) mixtape. Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is a conclusion to the maddeningly good saga that’s conquered so many of our hearts, then left them bleeding out in the corner of a musty motel room. A quiet end, we should count ourselves lucky. Should have, because Hotline Miami is back with a thick, bloody vengeance. If there is one thing to love about the series (other than than the incredible soundtrack and gritty neon-laced setting), it’s the precise, fast-paced gameplay which just got better and a bit more varied. There are new unique mask abilities like dual wielding or chainsaws (maybe dual-wielding chainsaws, if we’re lucky), and seven new playable characters to make up this twisted part-prequel, part-sequel story of Jacket’s aftermath.

If there was ever a good reason to pick up the bigger package, the Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number Digital Special Edition comes with the Remix EP and 6 unique tracks. An absolute treat, if you’re into the Hotline musical stylings. Nothing’s lost if you don’t want to make the commitment just yet. You can always get the standard edition, and get the upgrade pack when it becomes available later on.

Once it’s complete, all versions of the game will also come with a DRM-free Custom Level Editor to create your own maps and share them with friends. While you’re waiting, make sure to grab the Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number Digital Comics for free!

Ring ring. It’s Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. Will you pick up? The pre-order is …read more
