Turok: Dinosaur Hunter

As a die hard fan of this game: “DISCLAIMER: BETA TESTER” Get ready to rumble in the jungles of the lost lands like never before with this Turok. This remaster is essentially the same game from 1997 that we know and love except improved with enhanced mechanics, settings, graphics, and performance especially. They took all of the stuff in Turok that wasn’t so great and made it gold. In 1997 Turok shook the world, Dinosaur Hunter quickly became one of the most recognized games of its time. It had dinosaurs and a Doom/Duke Nukem motive towards its gameplay(even noted by the original dev David Deinstbier). But it surely wasn’t just a clone. Turok really stuck out to me , there were some setbacks in the original release that have been preventing the game to really shine and last forever. It had 24-30 fps and an extreme amount of fog to...

Hard Reset
8.5Great

Hard Reset

Hard Reset is brought to you by polish developer Flying Wild Hog, the same guys who would later on bestow upon us the 2013 Shadow Warrior remake, or as they say, “bold re-imagining”. It’s their first game and man, what a game! Using their own in house ‘RoadHog Engine’ they blow us away with this fine slab of an FPS game. Would I say Hard Reset is an ‘old school’ style shooter? Hell yes! There’s only one rule and that is to shoot anything that moves and, in many cases, even things that don’t move! Now that we’ve lost the interest of the tactical FPS fans, and have most likely stopped reading, let’s get on with it, shall we? This is how you do an old school shooter in 2011. Great visuals, beautiful graphics, silky smooth engine, kickass weapons and industrial-electro-metal-whatever music! It screams polished in every sense of the...

Toxikk – First Impressions

Toxikk is an arena style first person shooter that just recently came out on Steam via early access. It is advertised as paying homage to oldschool shooters as well as bringing us back to the roots of arena FPS’. I have a little over 10 hours of gameplay within Toxikk at this point and feel as though it’s time to give my first impressions of the game. There is only one map at the moment so I can only really comment on things having played that single map, but I will do my best to try and cover the major things I generally look for within an arena FPS. I won’t give the game an official final score or anything like that, until release, but I will give a score out of 10 to each category I believe is important. Atmosphere/Graphics: I didn’t originally plan on speaking on this because there...

Painkiller: Hell & Damnation

Painkiller: Hell & Damnation

Taking the role of an original character from the Painkiller series Daniel Garner is back better then ever with a heavy arsenal. A cool fact is that the voice of Duke Nukem Jon St. John voice acts for Daniel Garner and he really adds to the characters outlook, emotions, and personality. In a new fps world ran by assault rifles and pulse rifles Painkiller HD really stands out with some really nice weapons that have alternate firing options. The RPG/Minigun is one that will grab a hold of you quickly but the painkillers soul collector is one that will take even your soul. Most of the levels are better looking remakes of the levels seen in Painkiller Black(the first game in the series), to add a twist to nostalgia. This game also includes a multiplayer it features a very fun co op and the death match mode is actually well...

Rise Of The Triad

Rise Of the Triad Quick review: Also known as ROTT whether it is the Classic Version (also available on gog.com or the 2013 version, this game is a total bad ass. Interceptor made a remake of the classic and this game is Duke approved. With a 90’s taste plus some fresh flavor mixed up this game is very fun. With this game you can have some classic alone time with the single player  or kick some ass classical style on the multiplayer deathmatch modes Single Player: Single player is very fun I can actually sit back and enjoy it. Most games these days I just don’t feel that personal connection with anymore. There’s a lot of action, you won’t get bored with many explosive weapons to choose from and bunches of enemies to take care of, including bosses. The gore is very high but has settings to change the level of it. But this single...
